Broek op Langedijk, The Netherlands – 9 April 2026– The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) RawMaterials has made a strategic investment in E-magy B.V., a European developer and manufacturer of high-performance silicon anode materials, to support the scale-up of locally sourced and manufactured anode materials for next-generation batteries.

In the program, E-magy is scaling its industrial pilot plant to a capacity of 50 tons per year by 2028 (enabling 0.4 GWh of battery capacity), whilst preparing for full industrial production to deliver silicon anode material for more than 1 million electric vehicles per year.
The investment comes at a pivotal moment for the European battery industry, as demand grows for high-energy, fast-charging, and sustainable battery technologies alongside the continued expansion of gigafactory capacity across the continent.
E-magy’s proprietary nanoporous silicon anode technology enables increased energy density and improved charging performance, while being produced in the Netherlands to support shorter supply chains, lower emissions, and greater strategic autonomy.
“With the support of EIT RawMaterials, we can further industrialise our nanoporous silicon anode technology and strengthen Europe’s battery materials supply chain. Producing advanced anode materials locally is essential for reducing emissions, improving supply security, and enabling the next generation of batteries,” said E-magy CEO Casper Peeters.
The investment will support E-magy’s continued scale-up and early market adoption in applications such as drones and consumer electronics, while laying the foundation for broader deployment across electric mobility and beyond.
About E-magy
E-magy is a European advanced materials manufacturer revolutionising Li-ion batteries with its innovative silicon anode material. We drive the transition to electric mobility and next-generation battery-powered devices across sectors, including drones and consumer electronics. Using our proven, patented and proprietary manufacturing process, we develop third-generation silicon anodes, also known as silicon-dominant anodes (over 80% silicon by weight). We offer scalable solutions that empower manufacturers to achieve up to 40% higher energy density and 3x faster charging while reducing silicon expansion and minimising environmental impact. This makes next-generation lithium-ion batteries a reality.
About EIT RawMaterials
EIT RawMaterials is the largest and most active raw materials knowledge and innovation network globally, comprising over 300 partner organisations across the entire raw materials value chain. EIT RawMaterials demonstrates its dedication to advancing and supporting a circular economy in Europe by fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices. Mandated by the European Commission, EIT RawMaterials leads the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA), which includes 800 members representing an investment potential of more than €25 billion.
Since its founding, EIT RawMaterials has deployed over €700 million in direct strategic funding to support more than 800 projects and start-ups, leveraging approximately €8.3 billion in additional investment into critical raw materials projects and technologies across Europe and beyond.
Supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, EIT RawMaterials was established in 2015 to advance Europe’s transition to a sustainable economy. Its mission is to secure a sustainable supply of raw materials for Europe, close material loops, and design innovative product solutions, with the goal to position raw materials as a strategic strength for Europe through innovation, education, and entrepreneurship.
